For 40 years, Management Sciences for Health (MSH) has worked with host governments and partners worldwide to carry out our mission to save lives and improve the health of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health.
MSH’s Center for Pharmaceutical Management is committed to improving access to essential medicines by providing technical assistance and training in pharmaceutical and commodity management worldwide and helping to build locally “owned,” planned, and implemented initiatives that are sustainable.
Our work with drug seller initiatives began in 2000 when the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funded the Strategies for Enhancing Access to Medicines (SEAM) Program. SEAM focused on increasing access through innovative public-private sector partnerships to improve pharmaceutical supply systems, as well as on the quality of the products and pharmaceutical services provided to consumers in developing countries. SEAM activities included work with an accreditation/regulation model in Tanzania and a franchise model in Ghana to improve the quality of products and services from drug sellers.
